Yesterday Jam: Last summer

Remember when the sunlight was here? Remember that beautiful weekend on the beach? Remember you took those pictures and never published them? Oh. Well, this is basically what I wore last season; the pictures are actually from last season. Enjoy the rain.

I must confess. I am in love. In love with Vanessa Hudgens Coachella version ( the Disney girl is not included in my fantasy). This is the perfect way to pair a complete festival outfit. We must learn, not copy but learn. ( Remember that next year this is going to be "too last year" so save the moment and try your best next year).

Debo confesar. Estoy enamorada. Enamorada de Vanessa Hudgens versión Coachella ( la chica Disney no está incluida en mi fantasía). Esta es la forma perfecta de utilizar un atuendo de festival. Debemos aprender, no copiar sino aprender. ( Recuerden que el próximo año este atuendo será demasiado "año pasado", así que guardemos el momento e intentemos algo mejor el próximo año).

La primavera está aquí. Puedo sentirla. Las jacarandas muestran sus primeros brotes, adornando las calles llenas de caos y desorden urbano. El ritmo de vida se acelera y el calor asfixia. No soy amante del calor, sin embargo me alegra poder utilizar mis prendas favoritas de verano, volver al colorido y los estampados para abandonarme seis meses después a mi tradicional closet color negro profundo. (Oh, esperen...)

Spring is here. The jacaranda is starting to bloom, adorning the streets full of chaos and urban disorder. The life pace accelerates and the heat suffocates. I'm not loving the heat, however I'm happy to use my favorite clothes of summer, back to color and prints to abandon for six months my traditional deep black color closet. (Oh, wait...)

Mi abanico de prendas veraniegas incluye esta falda con estampado floral clásico, con la forma perfecta, el largo perfecto, el print perfecto sobre el tejido perfecto. (Y el precio es más que perfecto!). No pude evitar amarla, ahora es la prenda obligada que no me puedo quitar y que gracias a su colorido estampado, es fácil combinarla con distintos colores de temporada.

My range of summer clothes includes this classic skirt with floral print, with perfect form, the perfect length, the perfect print for the perfect fabric. (And the price is more than perfect!). I couldn`t help but loving it, my must piece for this season. Because it`s colorful pattern is easy to combine with different seasonal colors.

El toque divertido con accesorios no podía faltar, al igual que mis zapatos favoritos de verano y la cartera tipo sobre XXL que seguramente me acompañarán hasta que la lluvia nos visite.

The fun twist with accessories couldn`t be missed, as my favorite summer shoes and XXL clutch that surely will be with me until the first raindrops.

For a lot of people summer is just starting, for us, summer is giving up to the first rain drops. If you live in countries with similar weather as Guatemala you may know that every time you left home, umbrella and sweater must be with you even when is sunny out there. Of course, if is cold outside there is the possibility of dying of a high heat and excess of winter baggage so is necessary to use multiply layers easy to remove.

Para muchos el verano a penas inicia pero para nosotros está desapareciendo con las primeras gotas de lluvia. Si viven en países con un clima similar al de Guatemala, deben saber que cada vez que salen no pueden olvidar la sombrilla y suéter respectivo, aún cuando está soleado afuera. Claro está, si hay frío existe la posibilidad de morir de calor por el exceso de equipaje de invierno que llevamos encima así que es necesario utilizar múltiples capas de prendas fáciles de quitar.

This outfit is an example of that rare season we call “transitional season”. Not summer, not anything (since little people told me that this country only got two seasons, I just can´t believe that yet). When people ask me about the perfect fabrics for transitional season I recommend cotton, all the time. Original denim is made of 100% of cotton fibers, that makes denim a huge favorite because keeps you fresh and absorb humidity with a quickly evaporation process if you pick designs with thin fabric. Denim shirts are also a great favorite of LAZYCATSTYLE, you can see a lot of posts featuring this versatile material, after all the functional issues, there is always going to be the style part, where denim is the master of ready-to-wear outfits, giving us a infinite possibilities of mix and match, even in semi-formal occasions. (Don´t be shy, dear to wear it!).

Este atuendo es un ejemplo de la extraña temporada que llamamos "temporada de transición". No es verano, ni primavera, es todo y es nada ( desde pequeña me dijeron que nuestro país solo tiene dos temporadas, sin embargo aún no me creo del todo esa hipótesis).

Cuando me preguntan acerca de las telas a utilizar en la temporada de transición, siempre recomiendo algodón. El denim puro ( lona o mezclilla para latinoamérica) está hecho de 100% de fibras de algodón, eso lo hace un gran favorito en toda temporada ya que nos mantiene frescos absorviendo la humedad con un rápido proceso de evaporación si elegimos sus presentaciones mas livianas. Es además un tópico predilecto en LAZYCATSTYLE, pueden ver varios posts usando este material tan versátil ( sobretodo en los que incluyo mis clásicas camisas que colecciono casi por inercia). No podemos negar la parte de estilo donde la lona es la reina de los atuendos listos para usarse, por sus infinitas posibilidades de combinaciones, incluso en ocasiones semi-formales. ( No sean tímidos, atrevanse a usarlo!).

Flower prints are major this season, one of our trends featured in Collage trend:s Parte 1 (click to visit). When it comes to prints we must remember that the volume is going directly to the printed piece, especially if the colors are light, we got big patterns and the shape of the piece is not the right according to each kind of body. (I prefer high waist and drop crotch designs, I look smaller in those!). My pick was an abstract flower printed pants, designed for me for caprice I must confess, is not part of a collection.

Los estampados florales son infaltables esta temporada, es una de las tendencias que les presentamos en Collage trends: Parte 1 (click acá para ver post). Cuando se trata de estampados debemos recordar que el volumen irá directamente a la pieza con el patrón, especialmente si los colores son claros, los estampados son grandes y el corte del diseño no es el adecuado según el tipo de cuerpo. ( Personalmente escojo piezas cintura alta y con tiro caído, me veo más pequeña en esos estilos ;). Para éste atuendo utilicé un pantalón estampado con flores abstractas diseñado por mi por capricho debo confesar, no forma parte de ninguna colección.

Remember to add accessories!! Sunglasses are essential, even when is raining out there. The rain is not here yet so this is my last chance to wear sandals for outdoors. The basket handbag gives some extra summer touch and the arm party is optional. I changed it for a metal cuff and rings, you know how much I love rings! ) Add a contrast nail lacquer and light make-up to complete the outfit.

¡Recuerden añadir accesorios! Los anteojos de sol son escenciales, aún cuando hay lluvia. Pero aún no llueve así que es mi última oportunidad de utilizar sandalias para exteriores. La cartera de canasta brinda el toque veraniego y la fiesta de pulseras es opcional. Yo cambié las pulseras por un brazalete de metal y anillos, ustedes saben que adoro los anillos! Agreguen un esmalte de uñas en contraste de color y maquillaje liviano para completar el atuendo.

Age? In fashion it doesn’t count. Well, this is true only when you are an ageless supermodel like Claudia Schiffer. I really like the styling of this Harper´s Bazaar photo shoot, you can see the stunning body of this woman but at the same time it doesn’t look inappropriate. The only thing am missing is the unity between the super colored pictures ( bright tones, strong background images ) and the soft boho-vintage look (black and white pictures can be another group to discuss). At the end I realized that the all idea was trying to show the perfect vacations but I didn`t find a clearly concept. The thing is, the summer is here, we can feel it. (at least you can, in the other hand “winter” is starting in here wujuu”)

Well, I like the fringe blouse, the classic cars are love, I want every pair of sunnies and of course, look like her.
